I. Introduction to theProgram

(1)ProgramIntroduction

Sports science is the study of sports phenomena and their principles. It encompasses disciplines such as physical education, sports training, competition organization and management, and social sports guidance. With the rapid development of the economy and society, the future development of sports science will increasingly integrate with other disciplines, become more internationalized, and closely combine theoretical research with sports practice. The authorization for the Master's degree in Physical Education at Guangxi University was approved in 2017, and the program started training full-time sports master's students. In 2020, it passed the special qualification evaluation by the Ministry of Education. The discipline currently has 3 full-time professors, 19 associate professors, 7 national referees, and 16 graduate supervisors (10 internal and 6 part-time supervisors). In recent years, the sports discipline at our university has repeatedly won district-level and university-level teaching achievement awards and ministerial and provincial-level research paper awards. The academic teams in various professional directions within this discipline have formed, academic characteristics are becoming increasingly prominent, and they have a certain influence both within and outside the region.

(2)Fields of Study in Program:

Sports Training (045202)Sports training involves activities related to competitive sports. Students mainly study the basic theories, knowledge, and skills related to competitive sports, mastering the basic theories and knowledge of sports technology, sports human science, educational psychology, and general and specialized sports training analysis methods and techniques. Graduates have the basic ability to engage in social activities related to competitive sports.

Social Sports Guidance (045204)Students mainly learn an overview of social sports theory and practice, legal issues in social sports guidance, management and operation of sports clubs, operation management of sports activities, sports fitness guidance, medical security in sports fitness activities, safety issues in sports fitness activities, research methods in social sports, and other topics closely related to the field of social sports work.

II.EducationalObjectives

The goal is to cultivate "Five Haves" leading talents of the new era with social responsibility, innovative spirit, practical ability, legal awareness, and international vision. In the field of sports, students should master solid foundational theories and broad professional knowledge in sports, possess strong problem-solving abilities, and be capable of independently undertaking high-level applied sports professional technical or management work. Specific requirements include:

(1) Diligently study Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, the important thought of "Three Represents," and the Scientific Outlook on Development, adhering to the Four Cardinal Principles; possess good professional quality and ethics, abide by laws and regulations; have a strong sense of career and dedication, and a serious scientific attitude.

(2) Cultivate applied sports professionals with solid theories in sports training and competition organization, social sports guidance, and certain research capabilities; cultivate excellent coaches, teachers, fitness education, and management personnel with solid foundational knowledge in human movement science, strong education, management, training, and research capabilities.

(3) Gain a deep understanding of the forefront dynamics of sports discipline reform, master sports research methods, and possess strong abilities to discover, analyze, and solve problems, capable of guiding sports training, management, and research work.

(4) Be proficient in reading professional foreign language materials and engage in international exchanges in the professional field.

(5) Maintain physical and mental health, and possess good social adaptability.

III. Study Duration

The program adopts a full-time study mode, with a standard duration of 3 years and a study period ranging from 2 to 5 years (including suspension and retention of student status). Graduate students should complete their studies within the prescribed period. Outstanding full-time graduate students may apply for early graduation, but the study period must not
